How can I refer coaching clients to another helping professionals?
Abstract
Coaching is generally a confidential conversation between the coach and their individual client. Confidentiality is an essential ingredient and usually forms part of the contract between the coach and their client. But coaching can be an emotional journey and, on some occasions, it can stir deep emotions within clients. On rare occasions this might create a need to break confidentiality to protect the client, or another person, from harm, or on other occasions to protect the organisation or society from wider wrongdoing. This chapter explores how coaches might manage these rare situations and make appropriate referrals to protect their clients and others.
