Emotions play a central role in coaching, as they do in all human interactions. For many coaches, managing strong emotional responses feels a daunting challenging at the start of coach training. Many feel they are ill-equipped to cope with a client who cries, shouts or does not engage. In this chapter, we will explore the role of intense emotional reactions and how the coach can work with clients during these moments of deeper emotional expression.
